Computational & Applied Neuroscience Lab

The primary objective of the Computational and Applied Neuroscience Laboratory is to devise and implement adaptive data analysis methods for cognitive neuroscience behavioral and brain electrophysiological techniques. In this laboratory a variety of adaptive analysis methods were utilized in examining the neural underpinnings of cognitive processes, including visual working memory, inhibitory control, and attention, in adults, elders, preschoolers, and patients. These approaches comprised Holo-Hilbert Spectral Analysis (HHSA), Hilbert-Huang Transformation (HHT), Event-Related Mode (ERM) analysis, intrinsic multiscale entropy (iMSE), and Holo-Hilbert Cross Frequency Phase Clustering (HHCFPC). To examine the causal evidence of brain functions, the laboratory also employs brain modulation techniques such as noninvasive brain stimulation (NIBS), including transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) and transcranial direct/alternative current stimulation (tDCS/tACS). Professor Norden E. Huang and we have maintained a long-standing partnership in which we implement his innovative techniques (such as HHSA and iMSE) in the fields of cognitive neuroscience and clinical neuroscience.
