Abstract:
A high proportion of patients with major depression showes poor responses to antidepressant drug treatment. Such medication-resistant depression (MRD) is associated with more abnormalites in certain brain regions, such as prefrotal cortex (PFC) and subgenual anterior cingulate cortex (sgACC). Many physical non-medication treatment has been developed to directly target at these brain regions for the treatment of MRD. In addition to an introduction of major depression, today, I will show you some of these physical treatment, including repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) and theta-burst stimulation (TBS).
