Abstract:
In the current presentation, we focus on the relationship between self-related processing and consciousness in patients with disorders of consciousness (vegetative state and minimally conscious state), intending to look for an effective diagnostic marker for vegetative state patients and a predictive marker of consciousness recovery. Specifically, we used EEG/fMRI to investigate the brain activity induced by self-related stimuli and spontaneous brain activity within the brain regions involved in the self-processing. Furthermore, the relationship between neuronal integrity and consciousness recovery was investigated through FMZ-PET.
