Founded in 2009, the Biomedical Engineering Research and Development Center (BERDC) at China Medical University (CMU) has been directed to help medical doctors to bridge their unmet clinical needs by devising potential medical devices for both diagnostic and therapeutic purposes. In this talk, I will be briefly introducing the Medical Device Management Program we proposed when the BERDC just started for encouraging the medical practitioners, including not only the medical doctors but also nurses, to turn their daily clinical practice dreams into solid, operational apparatuses. In the end, we hope such an medical device “DreamWorks” can walk the medical apparatus all the way through the medical device developmental and approval processes such that it can eventually become a medical practice in the long run. Then, I will give few examples about what we have been worked on in the past few years, for example, the smart mattress sensors, neurorehabilitation facilities, as well as the basic research on neurological diseases.
